June News

It IS technically still June, at least for another 8 hours or so. I'm quite delighted to report that it's been a very good month for Rusty Bolt Theatre!

"Essentially Alys" has been selected for the Indie Art Con and Film Festival in Illinois (screening in July).

"You Are Here" was selected by the Jersey Shore Film Festival (screening in August) and won Best Mini-short in the Miami Independent Film Festival June edition. It was also accepted by Cinema Soup, a festival out of Illinois (screening in September).

"Aria" was selected by the Berlin Flash Film Festival and the Barcelona Planet Film Festival.

"Gonna Roll Them Bones" was accepted by the FantaSci Film Festival.

A comedy film festival at the Red Skelton Museum in Vincennes, IN, "Laff-VIN Laughter Film Festival" has accepted not one but two films for their lineup - "Meanwhile in Another Part of the Forest" and "A Bolt from the Blue"!!! Screenings will be in August. It's a real honour to be a part of this festival - I have very fond memories of his show on TV in my long-ago youth! (Yes, we had TV back then....)

"Meanwhile in Another Part of the Forest" also won Best Comedy in the Super Short category of the Summer edition of the Alternative Film Festival out of Toronto.

One of the very best festivals out there for those of us who happen to fit the bill is the Women Over 50 Film Festival out of the UK. "Espressivo" won Best Animation there last Autumn, but the festival didn't stop there; many screenings around the UK as part of their "Best of the Fest" tour followed. They really treat their filmmakers right! Now, coming up in early September they will be showing a programme of 10 films from the past three festivals at 21 different theatres (members of the Picturehouse Cinemas chain)...and Espressivo is one of them!!!!! This festival (and, in particular, Nuala O'Sullivan, the director) is tireless in promoting their filmmakers at quality venues. I am so honoured to have been included!!!!
