Early September News

Lots of news for this, the very early part of September! Firstly, selections:

Live from Studio 2B has been chosen by Shakespeare Shorts: Making Peace as a finalist and will screen at The Shakespeare Centre in Stratford upon Avon in September! Yorick and Hamlet are ecstatic!

And She Rode Forth.... has been selected by the Women Over 50 Film Festival, one of my favourite events! It will screen in Brighton, UK, in September. This film was also selected by the Miami Independent Film Festival for their monthly event (September) and is up for consideration for an award.

And now on to the main event for August, which was our trip to the Cindependent Film Festival!
It was hard to believe that this was the festival's first year as its scope, offerings, hospitality, etc. made it seem like a seasoned veteran! Allyson and her team had every detail right, it seems, and were a wonderful (and very approachable) group of people. With filmmakers who have done their research at the helm, you know they're going to treat filmmakers right. The venues were superb, with packed audiences and excellent screening facilities; lots of opportunities to mingle with other filmmakers and audiences. It was an absolute blast to see "Essentially Alys" on a big screen with an excellent sound system, surrounded by an audience that laughed in the right places! The area of Cincy that was the heart of the festival was called Over-the-Rhine and was a great mix of theatres, bars, cafes, etc. Met some great people; left me wishing we could have come for the full four days instead of the two we did - maybe next year?
And the BIG NEWS??? "Essentially Alys" won an award for "Best Off-Kilter Short", which I think is an excellent description of my film.
This is a great festival and very highly recommended!!!

Me!
